About Torqued to Pass

Test prep for aviation maintenance students who want to know why an answer is right, not just memorize it.

Who we are

Torqued to Pass is a small US company building study tools for the FAA Aviation Mechanic knowledge tests. We’re starting with the General test. Airframe and Powerplant are next.

We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the FAA.

How our questions are made

  • Written from public FAA documents only. We use the Aviation Maintenance Technician Handbook – General (FAA-H-8083-30B), Advisory Circular 43.13-1B (Acceptable Methods, Techniques, and Practices), and the Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR).
  • Original. Every question is our own. We don’t copy other prep products and we don’t try to recreate real FAA test questions.
  • Cited. Each question names its source document and page, and quotes the passage that supports the answer, so you can look it up yourself.
  • Mapped to the FAA’s topic list. Each question is tagged with its code from the FAA’s Aviation Mechanic Airman Certification Standards, the same codes used on FAA score reports.

How our questions are checked

  • We check that every quoted passage appears word for word on the cited page.
  • Every question is checked by two separate AI models against its source. Questions they flag are fixed or removed.
  • Our question bank is being reviewed by a licensed A&P mechanic.

Our reviewer

A licensed A&P mechanic is being hired to review our questions. We’ll name them here once the review is done.
